The No Obligations Running Club

Or NORC.

As part of my attempt to be 1) not ridiculously fat, 2) find as many slivers of time to see friends as possible, and 3) because I’m less of a grumpy bastard if I spend time outdoors, I’ve selfishly started the No Obligations Running Club (NORC).

Rules are this:

1. Reply “yes” to this message if you’d like to be added to the NORC email list. Delete if you don’t.

2. I’ll sporadically send out an email invite to say “Running on A date at B time at C place, followed by coffee at D location

3. You do *not* reply to that email. You simply show up at A date, B time, at C place — if you want to.

4. We run. Maybe as a group, maybe separate. Maybe 5K, maybe not. As fast or slow as you want. Point is — you show up and run however you wish.

5. Afterwards you go for coffee or don’t. And if you don’t want to run and just want to meet for coffee, that works too.

Clarifications:

  1. I’m a terrible runner and slow.

  2. Run locations will most often be Pony Pasture, Forest Hill Park, occasionally Tredegar.

  3. Coffee locations will most often be Blanchard’s/Stella’s at Forest Hill or Starbucks at Stratford Hills.

  4. If 5 people shows up, that’s success. If nobody shows up, that’s a success too.

  5. Meet time likely to be around 7 am.

Removal From Club Membership:

  1. If you start RSVP'ing to emails or apologising for not attending, you'll be removed from the list. The point is, for this to carry with it no obligation ;)
